Painted vs unpainted jigs

Anyone ever notice a difference?

SaltyShaw 03-24-2013 06:48 PM

Unpainted seems to work just fine for me

Not A Great Fisherman

I love to fish but I am not a great fisherman. However, of all the great guys I have fished with, most use unpainted and swear by them. Also, all agree that the weight of the jighead is more important than the color, and even I know that!

I used to use painted, and I think it may help in certain situations, but I think it hurts in a lot more than it helps

Unpainted no question. I actually have a mental block fishing with a painted jighead.

Unpainted but if you use a chart one with a chart bait it doesn't hurt.

Agree

Catch fish on both. Can't say that using painted or lead has ever made a difference for me. I grab whatever plastic and jighead out of my box that I think looks good at that time and throw it with confidence.

I always use unpainted jig heads but I always wondered which was better between the jig heads with eyes and without eyes, one trip I wasn't catching then I put on a jig head with eyes and started catching right away.
