Staying in Hackberry, need advice

Rented cabin at Spicer's this Friday, Saturday for 50th bday. I will bring my bay boat. I am looking for a little advice regarding local restaurants. Here is what I am looking for regarding recommendations.

1. Breakfast/Diner/ in Hackberry

2. Best restaurant in Sulphur/ Lake Charles. Can be unconventional like upscale pizza/ nightlife, 5 star opulence, or great food w/ unique experience.

3. Considering the carriage tour. I know it's hokey, but for years I have just brought the boat from Lafayette area to fish and really do not know anything about LC history. Would like to learn about historic downtown.

Just looking for a few outings between fishing. Thanks guys.

You can get breakfast & plate lunch at Browns grocery. Bout it for there. Hollier's in Sulphur just north of instate has good seafood. Slim Pickens around Hackberry! If ya wanna celebrate try out the Speckled Trout bar ;)

The water level will be very very low with this front coming through Thr into Fri...so be very careful coming out of there

Winds are expected to reach in the 30's out of the North Thur and Fri

Thanks. Just scrolled the forecast. Yep, might be better to do the tourist stuff Friday, and fish noonish Sat and Sunday.

Carrage is a good way to spend the evening. Boiled crawfish on Fri-Sat down there at S/T. Carrage ride and Luna would be my vote for Friday night.

X2000 it's good food. Brown's is good for the mornings and not bad for a plat lunch. Other then that it's ducks and bucks or sulfur /lakechalles

Take a right before Catholic Church off of 27 to west main and it's down west main couple miles on the left. If you can't find it just ask someone they will point you in the rite direction.

Agreed on the good food and crazy cheap prices. Brown is hit or miss IMO. Sometimes it is really good, others not so much.

It's the recreation center, swimming pool, tee ball fields, jungle gym.. Etc. down on the left after you turn by the church. Best and cheapest food around. Homemade burgers are awesome!

x50 on the Rec Center. Food is home cooked, good and cheap. Like someone said earlier about Browns- If nothing else is open then maybe but better be very hungry to eat it. Their hamburgers are good though if they are cooked while you wait. # to Hackberry Rec Center is 337-762-3535 in case you want to call the order in.

what makes the water level low? the wind? is it much lower depending upon where the wind is coming from? always wondered about that one.

North winds and outgoing tides create low water levels ,just as strong south winds and incoming tides create high water levels.
Be careful leaving out of Spicers ,there is only one channel to get out even though it may look like more . But if the water gets really low you wont have a problem figuring it out .

Carriage ride and Pujo St. Cafe in same night would earn brownie points for the Mrs. Luna's Cafe has a better atmosphere/night life though and is better on pricing. Can always head down south on Ryan a little further and get into real trouble at Cajun's Warf lol. I wouldnt go to any bar West of LC...

x2 you def would want to follow a boat if you have never been in and out of spicers before. you could be spending some unwanted time grounded if not.

Good advice regarding canal. Google maps shows Rita took out most of the banks, leaving scant visuals of the channel. I will print out the overhead satellite, idle slow, and watch the depth finder, fo' sho.
