Caught another beautiful morning in lower Terrebonne. Tons of shrimp and shrimpers made the water less than pristine, but very fishable.
Pulled up to spot 1 and on second cast with pink/ gold super spook jr., the shrimp and trout started going nuts on the surface all around the boat with the lure in midair heading for a shell point. Took about three twitches til a 17 incher latched on. Was just about to lift when a giant redfish , at least 30 #, charged and thankfully was just short. Fish in the boat! The big nasty striking the trout on top sounded like a bowling ball being dropped and the fish acted accordingly. No more shrimp popping for a while and took 3 or 4 casts to relocate them. They were quick to go down and it was a bright sunny morning which revealed mostly dirty green water. Corkies didn't get anything, so off to spot 2, leaving behind some small to medium trout chasing shrimp a little offshore. Six or seven nice one up to 21 inches. Hit two more islands, one w three fish and another with a dozen schoolies that were piled up on a submerged shell island, mostly released. Bone she dog, pink/chart corky, shad colored Ghost Shad (academy knock-off Mirrodine) and Deadly Dudley Bay Choveys did the damage in addition above SSJr. No bites on Slap Stick. There is apparently a huge biomass of shrimp in Lake Pelto and Terrebonne Bay. Trawlers and skimmers as far as the eye could see. Might get in another one before the Oilmans madness begins. Pic is from spot 1 at 6:39 am. Good times!Attachment 50239 |

Couldn't find spots or dots today. Did a little work in Bay Caillou and Hackberry Lake, then hit the marsh. Huge gaff-top (bout 8 lbs), 2 stingrays, lots of hardheads. Trashmaster in training....!!!!!!
