Need some input

I just got a boat and its a 1548 alweld with a 25 4 stroke tohatsu. I'm wanting to know if a hydrofoil is worth drilling holes and what prop size pitch etc I should go with for performance like shallow water running and holeshot

drag

hydrofoil creates drag to prevent porpoising, drag reduces performance(speed) if you are having porpoising issues the best bet would be putting your gas tanks or ice chest in the front of your boat, others may chime in some may say differently, but that is my opinion, i had a boat that had porpoising issues only when empty, no issues when hunting and fishing gear was loaded, i would say hydrofoil would be a last resort option

I would go with cmc trim first but if u want to keep it cheap I would put trim tabs before a fin

Maybe your motor is set to high..... May need to drop it down a pin.

Deff weld some trim tabs to the transom..you'll lose mph with a hydrofoil...weight distribution is must in small flat boats...

Instead of welding trim tabs u could just hook the hull a little

It doesn't porpus I'm looking to get up on plane easily in shallow water

It's a tunnel hull

Hydrofoil will put you on top quick. If you run you're motor with cavitation plate above bottom of boat it won't hurt your top speed either as it will be just above water surface while running.

whole different animal, tunnel hull changes everything, only thing i can tell you now is that prop work is the key, each setup is different, you will have to play with it to figure it out, and from experience i will tell you that there is a fine line between too much cup on a prop and not enough

My boat is a marshrunner. It has a tunnel from front to back. When I ran a 4 stroke 40 I ran a hydrofoil and it ran great.

Yea I didn't know it was a tunnel, I runs homemade hydrofoil on mine and it works good to get up shallow, and when running its out of the water completely
