JD & Bacon Baked Teal
1 Attachment(s)
Well, here is the beginnings of my duck concoction. Start out with some ducks, or teal in this case, stuff em with whatever you please. I like a little butter, seasoning, and Wrights brown sugar cured Bacon. Little Bacon and seasoning on top, and in to the oven to brown.

Never thought of throwing them in. May have to try that next time.
Anyway, next step. After Browning, add some more Bacon, and a mix of water and Jack Daniels Tennessee honey. Top it, and cook for an hour. Attachment 52444 Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I847 using Tapatalk 2 |
Try stuffing with apples, then season to taste, teaspoon of butter, and wrap in aluminum foil without bacon. I love bacon as much as the next guy but find it will overpower the taste of anything you cook with it.

If your camping and have no foil you can cut a beer can in half then throw straight into the coals

Well I've cooked this many times, and I don't think the Bacon over powers it at all. The brown sugar cured Bacon adds a nice sweet, Bacon flavor to it, and especially the gravy, but without overpowering it.

The finished product. Teal and gravy over rice with grilled squash and zucchini and fried eggplant.

That looks delicious.

Its good stuff man. The ole lady was saying I need to cut back on the Tennessee honey, makes the gravy a little sweet. I think it balances out the savoryness (think I just made that up) of the duck. And the Bacon just adds to the gravy really, you get a little taste in the duck, but not much. Still very ducky.
