Stay away from steel painted casings

Federal American Eagle is some good stuff. Remington and Fiocchi also make good brass cased ammo for them. It really depends on what you are after. Regular shooting, I'd say these 3 mentioned above. Of course, you can get into more match grade type ammo as well.
