Yamaha 250 SHO

I noticed that the stream of water exiting my SHO seems a little weak. Has any other SHO owners experienced this?

Idk about the sho. But are your thermostats on your heads? Like on top of them?

Just put a new one on our boat, still breaking it in....

I noticed this the very first time I cranked my SHO because i previously owned a 2 stroke that had a strong stream. My 250 SHO has a weak stream at idle and it is weak when running. I have 85 hours on the motor now and the stream is exactly the same as the very first time I fired it up. As far as I can tell, it's the nature of this motor to have a weak stream. I believe a good amount of water is being discharged through the lower unit and the stream is pretty much an indication that the motor does indeed have water flow. I dont think the stream on this motor is an indicator of the amount of water pressure. No issues with mine so far.

Here is a link that I just found about SHO owners with the same concerns. Check it out.

Thanks for the link. Makes me feel better. Has me thinking about the sanding of the impeller and housing for better pick up though.

My stream is a little weak, too, but I got a prostate the size of a tangerine!
