Islamorada, Florida is widely known as the “Sportfishing Capitol of the World”, and historic Bud N’ Mary’s Marina is surely its capitol building. Established in 1944, the legendary marina has long been home to some of the most accomplished and storied captains in Florida fishing lore, and Bud N’ Mary’s continues to serve as the premier marina in the Keys.

Bud N’ Mary’s is home to 40 accomplished guides and captains and is the largest and oldest fishing fleet in the Florida Keys. In addition to the available charters, Bud N’ Mary’s offers anglers services including boat storage and dockage, bait and tackle, and fuel. The marina’s deli serves up great food every day, and Bud N’ Mary’s also offers a variety of comfortable accommodations for traveling anglers who want to sleep just steps from the boat.

Islamorada’s exceptional variety of world-class fishing is made possible by the fact that three water bodies converge at the Island – the Gulf of Mexico, Atlantic Ocean, and Florida Bay. This means that a short run from Bud N’ Mary’s, the angler can find skinny-water fishing for tarpon and bonefish, reef fishing for snapper and grouper, and bluewater fishing for pelagics including marlin, sailfish, wahoo, tuna, and the plentiful dolphin(fish).

The Captains at Bud N’ Mary’s have also pioneered another fishery that has become a phenomenon in the Keys and elsewhere – daytime deep-dropping for broadbill swordfish. Capt. Richard Stanczyk, whose family owns and operates the marina, pioneered the techniques involved, and today he and his sons Rick and Nick are some of the leading swordfish captains in the world.

Today the Stanczyk family carries on the great traditions at the marina, and there is no doubt that if you are in Florida Keys there is no better location to base your fishing adventures than Bud N’ Mary’s.
