Where are you staying out there.. Looks like there's not much around there as far as campgrounds or places to stay.

I have seen some hogs my great uncle has caught there in last couple of years. He lives in McComb, MS and has invited me to go fishing there. May have to make the drive.

There are some cabins right down the road from the lake called Boondocks Cabins.

Everything south of the line where it says ski area is idle only. From what I hear the lake has so much timber you don't want to run around anyway.

....yeah it has a bunch of timber....

mudman03 08-02-2013 02:13 PM

Fished it last year this time of year, first week of August. Find you some areas w/ 10-20 foot of water where it slopes to deeper. Rig up a drop shot w/ a roboworm about 4 feet up from weight. Cast out and when weight hits bottom tighten your line and just shake your rod tip dont raise or drag just shake. Once you locate a fish throw out a marker and fish a large area around your marker as long as you are staying in that depth range. The color of roboworm ranged none worked better than others. You will catch some hammers.

Thanks,I only fished a drop shot a few times. Most people use 8lb florocarbon....I don't see using that light line in that timber and the possibility of catching a hog. What size line do you use? To me 12lb would be the smallest I would use.

Some of the other forums discussing the lake say it can get as clear as 10 foot visibility!

mudman03 08-03-2013 05:27 PM

Go w/ 10 lb test... Plenty enough just set the drag looser than normal.

jhains 08-05-2013 09:41 PM

Throw a spook

jhains 08-05-2013 09:42 PM

I've heard it was loaded with good fish. Never been, but been wanting to go since I heard of it opening several yrs back
