There is an boating safety course that you have to attend, if I not mistaken..... not sure though call louisiana wild life and fisheries.

You have to have a boaters course license to drive a boat no matter who's with you. If you not driving the boat you good. All a fishing license does is let you fish and a driving license lets you drive on the road.

Yep, two of my children have taken the Coast Guard course so far. There is an online version and an in person version. Costs a few bucks. In person is better, online is more convenient.

x2. This is correct. Anyone born after 1984 has to have a boating license to operate a boat.

Born after 1984 you are required to take the course if operating anything larger than a 9.9 hp motor and boat length is 14 feet or better...correct if I'm wrong guys that's the last I read on it unless louisiana has made some changes to regs ?

I recommend taking the in person course so that real learning will take place. If you take the online version you will most likely cheat and not learn anything.

To answer your second question. You can go fish Joseph's harbor by yourself.

I read the wlf page and still don't get it. Finally got my boating license but say someone 18 with a boating license also has to be in the boat too. Help me out on this.

Just had the game warrant came up to my boat today asked to show life vest, and asked for our age since I was the owner of the boat he asked us for our birthday. I was the oldest at 27 1985 and he asked for the boating safety card.

Post a link please. I could not find anything about an online course.
