sam houston park question

Does anybody fish near the lil gas station before the entrance to the park. I know the river is pretty busy and current is strong. Everytime I see the water by the gas station ramp it never seems to be moving. Looks like a good place to throw the yak in. Looking for goggle eyes and bream maybe some bass

I used to go there and catch bream about 10 years ago, surely you would be able to find some if you threw in the yak there..

Fishing

Yes. I fish that area near the bridge and beyond. You must have current to get bites. I usually don't have any success catching if there is no current. I bass fish.

Thats one thing I've noticed on all the river reports. You gotta find running water. I mainly just want goggle eyes and bream. But all the ones ive caught in tge park were barely worth keeping. Hopefully there will be some larger ones stacked up somewhere.

I have been able to get on some good bream lately in the English bayou. Look for points with cypress limps hanging over them, then cast up under the tree's.

Is there a launch under the english bayou bridge? I know there's a road that goes under it.

I do alot of bass fishing with artificial worms. But I get alot of bream bites. You need to find water that is located under trees with shade and preferable some stumps near by. If you do, you should catch some bream.

All I really throw is artificial worms. Texas rigged or weightless. Bass would just be a bonus. Mainly wanna get on some big bream

U can launch into English bayou from the wal mart gas station

What about the bridge north of English bayou. Can you go under it and launch a yak?

There is a boat launch on north side of English bayou, about 1/2 mile east of the Hwy 171 bridge. You have to take Old Town rd [Hwy 3059] north of the Walmart and turn at the light to get there.

There is another boat launch at the park where English bayou connects to the Calcasieu river. But I would not go there unless I had 3 BIG friends and some "heat" with me.

All of the bream I have caught have been on live worm. The only thing I have had touch artificial worm has been gar and mullet
