Alligator Lake 9.6.13
3 Attachment(s)
Been fishing this little lake the past few months with little to moderate success. Went last night to try out some new baits and try to catfish a little. Tried a fluke style bait rigged on a 3/8oz jig head bouncing it off the bottom and picked up 5 small ones (1-2) lbs. Was getting dark, so I set out the catfish poles and went back to bass fishing. Hung the 3 lber at the bank. With the soldiers down the levee from me cursing, I thought it would be a good idea to go over and offer the fish to them as I was really out there enjoying an evening of no work. Soldiers were thankful and I was happy. Called it a night around 10:00pm. Had plenty of hits on the catfish, but couldnt get them to hook up. If anyone ever comes to Ft Polk and wants to fish this lake, get with me and I'll show you a few tricks.

That is a nice lake, with very clear water.
I spent some time walking by the lake waiting on the Game Warden to get back to the office. Which part of the lake you do best on? North, South, East or West. This time of the year, I would be looking for shade where the trees are along the bank. |
There is a levee on the north side of the lake and there is a drain system. Notice it in the back ground ?? There is very minimal cover over the lake except where the boat docks are and the pier is.
