Went yesterday morning and found a few birds south of commissary pt. even with the 1st weir. It was 99% sand trout but with enough of them you can make a good meal. They were hitting on anything with a chartreuse tail.

We had a problem with sand trout to man throwing plastics... kept throwing topwater and caught all specs..

If it's not raining Monday I'll try that. What are you throwing on top.

When youre in birds with lots of sand trout, try keeping you rod tip up and just reel it in with a straight retrieve keeping your bait high. thats what i do with plastics in that situation. seems to work better for me
