Weirs in VBay?

Moved down to Lafayette about a year ago from North Louisiana and I'm trying to figure out the fishing/shrimp/crab spots. I hear reports of people catching shrimp at the weirs in VBay...anyone willing to help me out as to which weirs y'all are talking about?

I'd also be more than happy to trade a deer hunt on the MS river or duck hunt for some fishing help around here. Thanks in advance!

There are 2 inside marsh island and I think 3 on the west side of The bay old game warrent camp. Never had luck catching big shrimp only enough shrimp for bait

Ditto...I have only caught bait shrimp at these weirs. You can see them on google maps if you zoom in. Eating shrimp can be found at Rockafeller refuge. When they are on at the Rock it is well worth the drive.

Here is a cheat sheet...

They aren't bad to find at all once you go to them. I've been fishing a Vbay since I was young I have a bunch of good spots to catch redfish. I usually tear them up in the summer. I'd be happy to share some spots for a trade on a duck hunt

Thanks again, especially 'wishin i was fishin' for taking the time to make a cheat sheet. We can definitely make that happen Quackhead. I hunt a couple leases in Grand Chenier but if I can find time from work a North LA hunt is usually really solid.

Welcome, where abouts from North Louisiana. Monroe born and raised here, displaced redneck, coonass in training:grinpimp:

I usually fish a whole lot more on west side of V-bay around Lake Ferman and all that since I just have my 17' Pro-Drive. But I still kill quite a few fish. If you bring up Lake Ferman on Goole maps and start zooming in you can find most of them in the surrounding areas

I'm a Monroe boy too Duck Butter. My family still lives in Sterlington and you nailed it when you said redneck raised, coonass in training! Sounds good Quackhead, look forward to maybe meeting you one day.

Is the eastern most weir a problem to get to because of shallow water? I knew it was there, but thought it may be too shallow to get to?
thanks

RedfishPoker 10-19-2013 11:42 AM

As I know there are 4 weirs on the west side of V-Bay:

Hog Bayou - between Hell Bayou and Indian Point (Be careful with it because of shallow water if you're not a familiar with area)
Shallow Bayou - On the shoreline between Redfish Point corner and Lake Fearmean Pass
South Bayou - SW of by Game Warden camps (inside Lake Fearman)
North Bayou - Game Warden Camp area (Inside Redfish Point)

You can find it from Goggle or Map.

There are two more bob lake also in Lake Ferman and Preian weir between the game warden camp and hog bayou
