Kayak hunting Sabine or Lacassine

If I tried this will i get run over by a mud motor or are there places I could get that are more secluded?

I've never done any public land hunting.

Thanks

Would be a long paddle to hunt Lacassine.

People are allowed to run in the marsh this year and use common sense and follow all safety guidelines and regulations. But since it's run by the gubment wit typical useless gubment employees, there's no enforcement. So it's basically a free for all in there and people run the entire refuge with nothing but reckless abandon. You can paddle in there and get away from crowds but, you can also count on some idiot running his motor in the marsh somewhere he's not suppose to wit no running lights. Bob and weave.

Valstar Rd in Sabine was a paddle only section. Not sure if it still is this year or not

I'll look into that thanks. That's across from the West cove launch correct?

You can drive in across from west cove launch and put paddle boat in. It is packed this year with drive ins. Over 50 trucks been parked down the road on weekends.

I've got a hobie. If the water is more than a foot deep I can move pretty quick. Should be able to get away from crowds?

You'd be surprised. Most use trolling motors and bring spare batteries, I've seen guys troll over an hour to go further. Hobie would be quick but hard to haul decoys, grass, and guns.

I gotcha. Don't have any birds in our rice yet so I might have to just fight the crowd then

We would troll in as far as we could go, and drift back with the wind. Got away from the crowds and it paid off

Thanks. Gonna have to give it a try
