Well if you want to catch some good crappie just head for the chicken coop on toledo bend. You will need to fish the edge of the river in about 36 feet of water. Best to fish right off botton about 2 to 6 inches . The bite is very lite so pay close attention at the tip end of your pole. A soft or very lite action rod will work best. The bite is just at day light and slowes near 8.30 am Good luck Coons Guide Service :work:

They weren't biting Saturday that's for sure and most of the locals are telling me they haven't started running yet this year!

Thanks for the report. Thinking of heading up there with a buddy this weekend. Never fished Toledo Bend before as I usually head south of Fort Polk for the saltwater.

What are the rules about fishing the Texas side? I'm assuming best way to get there is head up to Many then cross the bridge and launch near there and head north?

I think the rules are the same now on both sides.
