weigh in at Latitudes Restaurant in San Leon, Tx. 19.87lb was the 3 fish large stringer and they had the big fish at 9.78lb. i've fished this bay system for 50 yrs and only have one fish that big! i feel really inferior.

I'm not sure of your bay system, or how you fish, but it seems if you only have one the size of what was caught today of many that you might want to do a 180 deg. Turn on your strategies!
One thing to remember in order to catch trophy fish you must be in trophy fish territory!

man, i hear what you're sayin. i make 3-4 trips a year to Baffin and haven't caught a really big trout yet. lots of numbers, but no weight. i get home and hear or read about about a monster caught in the same area i was fishin. i hate to *****, but dang. guess i'll just keep my nose to the grindstone and hope it all pans out.

If you are a decent angler it's all about time on the water.

Those guys have been fishing those bays a long time...

It's specific types of environments that hold big fish and specific presentations that catch them. Some of those guys will hold on a spot and fish it all day until they get there one big bite. They arn't fishing where they'll catch little ones either (not that little ones won't be caught with the big ones... but some of the areas arn't your typical spots.

Out of the way mud and shell 2-5 feet of water.

I've learned that you have to treat big trout fishing like trophy whitetail hunting. Some days you aren't gonna catch crap. Not a bite. Might only get one bite. But that's what I want. That one big bite. Now you can go to a different hole and sling pickles all day, like shooting the first deer you see. I start slinging pickles, I'm moving. No knocking that, it's just not what I'm into.

Alot of those boys trailer and have bad *** o2 systems to keep fish alive. Two man team fishing for a couple of big bite's. I know couple of boys fishing Spectator trout tornament fish for couple hours and trailer to weigh-in 4 hours.

This is excellent info! 100% true!!!

Not all, but most won't tell exactly where trophy fish are cought!
That being said some of what your told and read may be fibs!

I'm guilty of it. I'm glad to put people on numbers of fish, but only a select few sit in my best deer stands and fish my hog holes!

That's what I tell people when they try to get me to tell them where I'm catching big trout. "Think of it this way, if you were deer hunting public land and you had a spot covered with fresh buck sign and you knew there was a monster walking around in there. Scrapes, rubs everywhere. Would you tell someone else where it was? Same thing." I will help anyone catch fish but the big ones you on your own.

I have a few select friends that ill let know when where and how if i found some big fish... But numbers ill tell just about anyone who asks...
