You sure you bought it for her? :D I was also looking for a 380 for my daughter. But I may go with a 9mm, as from what I hear many 380's are a fairly snappy. That along with the fact that 9mm ammo is a lot easier to find.
Hope your wife enjoys her new G42.

The compact glock 9mm has a fairly good recoil for a girl... my Fiance has one and shes scared to shoot it.

guy I work with just got that same pistol and loves it... good luck

Yeah, i was kind of afraid of that. Hopefully she never has to use it but if she doe's the recoil will be the last thing she notices. I'm going to take her to the range to just get familiar with it and shoot it a few times. she doesn't like shooting much but finally agreed to keep a gun close by when I'm not around.

wait, my bad. you said she has the 9mm. hopefully the .380 won't be quite as bad.

They are very hard to find right now. I got lucky by finding mine. Most places I've talked to haven't even seen one come through their place yet. southern151 can get you one but his are on back order with no eta. I wanted to give him my business but I'm very impatient plus i work 14&14 so i grabbed this one while i had the chance on my days off, and his price was the cheapest out of every place i called also. If your not in a hurry for it send him a pm.

Recoil. I did some reading-.380 vs 9mm, and because of the straight blowback design of the 380s and lighter weight than the same size 9mm...it will be snappier. However, there are a few exceptions...the easiest to rack & soft recoil 380, is hands down the Ruger LC 380. This is what I was told by several in another forum. So, I'm still thinking. I keep coming back to ammo availability tho. My wife handles her Glock G19 just fine however.

i got ya. well like i said earlier she won't be shooting it very often but i still want her to be comfortable with it. if she complains about the recoil ill just keep the .380 for myself and buy her something else:D i appreciate the info

Yes, the sig is a great gun but I prefer the glock. No external safety and no hammer. Both the Sig and glock have their +s and -s.

FF_T_Warren 03-17-2014 09:09 PM

Yea. I have a glock as well. I just wouldn't have a glock bouncing around in my pocket as a concealed carry. Just too risky IMO. But in a holster on my side, I love glock.

I'm actually selling my glock and sig 22 to pay for this purchase. I just don't use either really and what I do use them for, this lil gem will be a much better substitute in place of both of those. Can't wait to get my ccl and get on the range...not necessarily in that order

Wife and I both have CCL and I have taken several extended tactical courses. Took one a couple of weeks ago and shot around 400 rounds. Much fun!!!

Couple of questions, how long is the CCL license good for, and do you have to re-certify?
Where can a person get tactical training in our area, and what is the cost?

The more she shoots using proper form the more she will learn to control the recoil. If she doesnt like to shoot its gona be hard to get enough trigger time for her to get comfy with the recoil. My wife enjoys shooting but when she was new to it she hated recoil but now she knows how to handle a weapon and control recoil. She carries a Khar chambered in .45acp. Its all about trigger time.
