I do, I use it a lot. The gps is very useful when drifting over reefs.

U didn't like it?

Buy one that's compatible with your other unit so you can link them. This allows you to run your boat scouting an area with your structure scan, marking these spots and then later you find them from the way points and markings on your bow unit.... I know this is a great asset for bass fishing and would think it would also be nice saltwater fishing

On a flat a cheap unit is all you need....like a lowrance elite series. Just make sure you use a ram mount cause the bouncing around on the front will tear up the mount on the unit if you hard mount it without the ram.

Yes, this is what I do. HDS 7 console and HDS 5 on bow. Will never have a boat without it.

Probably, but the Elite series is a little cheaper and may be compatible. I think as long as they are "networkable" it would be ok.

If they are "networkable" then an Elite 7 HDI would be a slick setup on the bow.

If you don't need to mark anything with your front mount, you could just use the app on your phone with Bluetooth to see what is showing on your screen.

There is an app for lowrance that you can link your phone up via Bluetooth and view your screen. With the ipad, you can even control it.

alphaman 03-28-2014 09:58 PM

Hds 7 unit has bluetooth capabilities?
