I work in timbalier bay out at east timbalier island and I have seen a few of these around and don't have a clue what they are. I'm guessing some type of jellyfish?

One Bad Mudda......

Portuguese Man o' War. According to Wikipedia, not a jellyfish.... but a , a colonial organism whereas a jellyfish is a single multicellular organism.... Painful stings with loooong tentacles.

Yeah, you don't want to touch the tentacles on that thing. They hurt bad!

What do you do on the island?? Those float by my rig by the hundreds sometimes.

Growing up we would watch the tourists when they saw those on the beach. They thought it would be great fun to stomp on them to watch them pop. The fun was when they got stung all over their legs and started screaming.
