Taking a Tracker 175 TF w/60 Merc out in Salt Water
 

I've had my tracker 175 TF for a while now and I'm really wanting to take it saltwater fishing. I've been in smaller lower powered aluminum boats out in Turners bay and under 210 but never in my own. Does anybody have any comments or advice on this ? I plan on rinsing and flushing everything afterward, am I just being a worry wart ?

I'm ready to get my wife hooked up with a big redfish !

My buddy has the same boat he takes it in salt water every once in a while. If you have a painted trailer as opposed to galvanize or aluminum you need to make sure you wash it very thoroughly.

When I started using my painted trailer in salt water, it started rusting in less than a year. After 2 years, the cross supports started breaking and I had to replace the trailer.

I have and alumacraft 1650 center console w/ 50hp yamaha on it, i take it out of the ellender area as well down at the jetties regularly...

The key is, pick your days... when the winds up dont be silly and try and go out onto the main lake... stick to the channels & even in the channels you can work the side out of the wind.

Be safe, have an anchor ready, and pick your days... its very do-able... heck you see guys out there in 14ft jon's all the time.

We do it all the time in a 16' alumacraft with a 20 hp tiller, with a 9.8 hp backup. We're never more than two miles from a launch and much closer than that to protected water.

get some corrosion x from academy and spray it all over your engine block it is some nasty stuff looks like oil all over your engine but it will help prevent corrosion on the engine

I take my 17' Pro-Drive boat with my 36 HP Pro-Drive all the time. Just have to pick ur days usually I won't go out in anything more the a wind forcast of 5-10. Just wash ur boat motor and trailer off when u get back home.
