Hog hunting gun

I saw a segment on tv with a store that had a new hog gun with rale and suppressor capability.

Can any one direct me to the store name the gun type and suppressor options.
I understand regs for hog hunting changed and allow for this new equipment.

I want to hunt in perl river wma. I saw a large group of ferrel bacon. But one sound and it was like a chines fire still.

Thanks.

You have to be a dealer to buy from them.

Looks like about 1800 with supressor I think.

Yes and, to get a suppressor, you also have to go through the ATF and, your local Chief Law Enforcement officer. The SOT(Special Operations Tax) is $200 and, typically about a 6 month wait to receive it.

What's the word on the NFA Trust to circumvent CLEO signoff? There was talk about doing away with it. I've heard you can't get it signed by Mike Neustrom or Jim Craft in Lafayette so the trust is my only option. With my luck, by the time I can afford the couple of toys I want, the "loophole" will be closed. :pissed:

I'm not 100% sure but, I think the trust is only an option in "toys" already in the family. I've never really read up on it too much though.

I hunted a lot in the swamps of Sherburne this year after deer season. Killed 5 hogs. They are so edgy I can't imagine getting a quality 2nd shot even with a bow. As you know any slight noise or movement sets them off running. I really don't think a suppressor is going to get you anything extra, certainly not at the high cost and extra effort of getting one.

Even just hitting one with a suppressor is going to make them scatter like the wind. Unless they are sleeping, they are moving. In my experience, it's all about the 1st shot and multiple stalks during the hunt.

On the flipside, one big sow I jumped close, I had a 12mag shotgun and three quick close shots in swamp with heavy coyote loads, then one more fast reload/followup to finish.. was LOUD!!!:eek: BAM BAM BAMM .... BOOM! I bet the others are still running today!! :rotfl::rotfl: Man I had to sit down to calm down after all that! :D

Not exactly sure if WMA's will allow suppressors, might want to check on that? I'm using a 22mag Rem597 automatic now, and like it very much, since I only hog hunt during late squirrel season/rabbit season.

^^^

What is your most prefereed shot placement with the 22mag ?

Behind the ear if u have time.

But I'll always take a tight low behind the elbow body shot rather than wait for the perfect ear shot and not get it. Half my kills have been on jumped sleeping pigs since they feed mostly at night. Every hunt is different in the swamp and u hope u have the right gun that day.
