I hunted a lot in the swamps of Sherburne this year after deer season. Killed 5 hogs. They are so edgy I can't imagine getting a quality 2nd shot even with a bow. As you know any slight noise or movement sets them off running. I really don't think a suppressor is going to get you anything extra, certainly not at the high cost and extra effort of getting one.
Even just hitting one with a suppressor is going to make them scatter like the wind. Unless they are sleeping, they are moving. In my experience, it's all about the 1st shot and multiple stalks during the hunt.
On the flipside, one big sow I jumped close, I had a 12mag shotgun and three quick close shots in swamp with heavy coyote loads, then one more fast reload/followup to finish.. was LOUD!!!:eek: BAM BAM BAMM .... BOOM! I bet the others are still running today!! :rotfl::rotfl: Man I had to sit down to calm down after all that! :D
Not exactly sure if WMA's will allow suppressors, might want to check on that? I'm using a 22mag Rem597 automatic now, and like it very much, since I only hog hunt during late squirrel season/rabbit season.
