We knew the trout bite was slow in the morning, but we had to give it a try (gotta go to know). Stained water and a ripping current at our first two stops produced a goose egg. We found better water at our third stop and the current wasn't running 20mph!!!! Second cast produced a big fat trout!! We reeled in 3-4 in a row, then James doubled up on 18-20 inch trout, David hooked one and Kerra did too. It looked like we had found what we were looking for. After reeling in a few more, the bite was over in the blink of an eye. We tried another location with no luck, then headed North for reds. My first cast at our first location had a big hefty bronze back crush the gold spoon (yea it's ON!!).........Not!! We had five more bump the baits not taking them. After drifting every single location we have been crushing them with no luck, we switched to bait shrimp. The puppy drum were thick but only one other red was to be had. Tough day, as I think this was the first time in 4-5 years James fishes with me and we do not limit out!! Day 2 tomorrow, hopefully we can change up our luck!! Avocado Matrix, and Purple Haze Vortex Shad produced all of our trout today. Capt. Marty LaCoste 985-856-4477 www.absolutefishingcharters.com |
