Lafayette area fishing
I'm new to the Lafayette area and trying to get into some decent fishing in the area. Not trying to get in on anyone's honey hole, just looking for any help or advice I can get about locations, launches, etc...really anything that may be helpful to jumpstart me. I just have a 16 ft aluminum with a 35 at the moment. I'm not picky about what to target, as long as I can catch some fish within about an hour from me. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Henderson "swamp" area can be very good bass, bream or Sack fishing..... depending on the water level and how clear the water is at the time. This area is part of the Atchafalaya basin about 15-20 miles east of Lafayette.
Lake Martin....between Lafayette and Breaux Bridge is another option. Not a really big lake but can offer a fun trip. There are many more places that are about an hour away. |
Try Lake Martin, it's minutes from Lafayette. On a good day you can haul in lots of bream and sacalait. Best bait would be live crickets, and don't waste your time using worms. I've always been lucky taking a left out the launch and fishing in the trees.
