Terrible VBay Day
left the launch right at daylight and was greeted with many storms off in the distance. Went to redfish point and water was dirty with no bait working. Went castnet for bait while the storms moved off. Ran to Tee Butte, fished while the storms moved out of tiger shoals. Caught a gafftop and a ladyfish... Water was very dirty. Ran out to tiger shoals in the rough water and the water was still dirty. Caught two white trout and a bunch of gafftops.... Gave up and called it a day.:pissed:

Yep we enjoyed the day too, One nice 20 in Red and a 21" Trout, with some throw backs.
On a good note some good water in coming into the bay! |
I was out there too early dodging storms to the pass. Caught 4 keeper reds and several rats quick then the bite died. Moved to caldwell and caught as many white trout and bluefish you wanted to play with. Never caught so many blues in my life, man they tear up plastics. Bounced around till 5 pm ended up with 8 reds 6 specks and 2 spanish macks for the box.

Nice trip Montauk. The water in the pass was beautiful when we were coming in, but my buddies had their butts full and were ready to head in

Was out there too. Scratched

It sure is a learning process knowing what rigs produce and on the rigs that produce, where the sweet spots are. Some times it like a dang bream bed, you have to throw your bait in one little spot to catch, others you can catch in a huge circle, but that circle may be 100yds off the platform. |

yep, that is exactly what I wrote but erased. Too many people see you in the middle of no where and make a beeline for you.
I will def think about acting like I am having boat troubles nex time that happens, lol... |

Haha same here. Even have notes if they have shell pads are not Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Why do they use a shell pad for the Rigs? I would have guessed the fish like the legs of the platform. Shows how much I know about fishing the short rigs. I dont have a VHF on the boat, yet, so I dont head out of fear of something going wrong and no way to communicate.
I have only tried out there once, found some Gaffers and that was it. I generally catch all I need inside the bay but Sat was a different story. |

i have tied a 2oz egg sinker and casted it out to drag the bottom.

Not exactly sure why they have them, but I would guess either for extra support/protection for the pipelines/platform. Or just to protect the bottom from the big boats moaring to them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
