VBay 10/18 Morning

Had to have a really quick run Saturday morning so that we could make it back for the LSU game. Fished inside for a while and caught nada, so we went outside of the pass around 8:30. Pulled in about 17 or 18 keeper trout, if you include a couple of whiteys that we kept before the specks started coming in. Threw back two nonkeepers for every keeper, but it was fun to catch anyway. With about 45 minutes left before we needed to head back, so around 11:15, we decided to look for reds just inside the pass. Pulled in a 26 and a 29. With great weather like that, I would have been happy not catching fish.

Great catch legal....

How was the fishing for everyone else on the inside this weekend? We tried the west side and had nothing. Were the fish biting near Cypremort?

Sunday afternoon catch

Great report thanks. My son and I were out in VB Sunday afternoon and fished for about 3 hours. Great weather and almost slick as glass. Caught 5 in Weeks Bay along the banks and lost 4 at the boat, then tried the TP, but water dirty. Went to the Cove on the way in for about 30 minutes and caught one and lost two at the boat. For some reason, we just couldn't sling them into the boat like normal so had to end up using the net for even the small ones. Guess cuz they weren't slamming the baits, just barely picking them up.

Cajun bill, yea the same thing was happening to me whenever I catch the specks they weren't really attacking full force. lost a couple of them myself when near the boat. for some reason they weren't really aggressive over the weekend.

The tide was whipping at the pass on Saturday. Anchor was holding hard it was moving so fast. No wind though.

True dat! Legal, what kind of boat were you in? I was there as well.

We only caught 8 Sunday morning and that wasn't until 11:30 when the wind started to let up. I figured the afternoon would have been better.

On Friday Caldwell was white capping at daybreak, but managed 3 specs in 45 min. From there, the rest of the bay was smooth when we moved to a couple of honey holes around Marsh Island. We had a lot of fun catching 10 or so reds ups to 35"(which we released), several gigantic flounder, and 5 more specs. We had trouble catching reds under 27". What a great problem to have on 12lb. line.

Goes to show how you can't trust the tide charts I guess.

I find if the tide is moving at all there is good movement in the pass, especially if your on Caldwell. If its really moving good luck anchoring, I got a fortress and it won't hold and forget about a power pole.

Anybody got a water report. My brother fly's offshore every day so he usually text me right before he's out of range what the waters doing but he's on vacation. Got off of work this AM itching to go but called the shop to find out they hadn't gotten around to my service yet. Probably gonna hit them in the morning. With all the "slams" and "beat downs" on the reports I might catch a fish. Next report I post I'm calling it "Trout Smorgasbord".

Good job legal, I see you are finding some fish in VBay. She's like a good looking woman, frustrating most of the time, but when she puts out, its worth it.

I totally agree with ya on the fact of when vbay is moody most of the times but once she give in its the best place to be fishing around in.
