What meat grinders do you use?
 

Looking at purchasing a meat grinder soon and not sure what grinder to get.... what do you all use? Pro's and Con's? Cost?

Attachment 76847I inherited this one from my parents...must be 40 years old. Grinds meat like a champ. Its heavy and takes a while to clean. Use it for sausage, boudin, hamburger meat and kibbie. I would think this sells for around $500.00 now a days.

There is an attachment to Kitchen Aid mixers that works great.

I have a LEM .35 hp #8 die. It works great. It takes a lot to bog it. A friend of mine has a .75hp Cabela's #12 die and that things a beast. We tried to bog it and couldn't. If I had to buy another it would be the Cabela's.

The new LEM #8 with big bite auger is a BEAST .

It depends greatly on what ya gonna do with it and how much ya wanna spend. The kitchen aid attachment is defiantly good for small jobs. I have a Waring pro. It is great for small jobs but ya can't crowd it ya can bog it down but it works good for turkey cheese:

But big stuff I go over to a friends house with one of those big Cabella grinders. My podnah Smokin Sam da smoke house guy got one ya couldn't bog down with a fence post. Its there we do da big jobs. My advice buy a small one for your stuff and amke friends with some one with a big hawkin high horse power one for those rare big jobs.

If you intend on making sausage skimp a little on the grinder and get a sausage stuffer, they work way better than the stuffer attachment on the grinder.

I have the LEMS 12 and a sausage stuffer. The LEMS will grind 100 pounds of meat very quick. Cuts down on the beer brink for the small grinder I had before. 😪

I also have the LEM 3/4 hp grinder. Works great. I have the 50 lbs Tilt Meat Mixer. Works great to mix up deer, pork and seasoning before stuffing sausage.

A mixer is our next purchase.

Like I said earlier I don't do big projects at my house for the big sausage making, boudin making, stuff I go to friends houses and we team up making a big batch to split tween us. For small batches around the house here is MY mixers:rotfl::rotfl:

I have the cabelas. 1hp i believe and it is the man

same here, auger tip broke twice, but they over nighted a new one free, both times.

This is what I have and can grind 1 deer in about 10-15 min, last year ground 5 deer and was done grinding in less than an hour. Trick is to spend the time trimming and cubing.
Also, the Cabelas blades are cheap and soft metal, throw them away and get a good set of German blades, you will not look back.
I have had this grinder since 2003, and grind anywhere from 5 -7 deer a year.
