Cabin Rental Suggestions

Looking for a place for the family to spend the weekend at in early May. Would prefer something that Sleeps a minimum of 10 or 2 smaller cabins that would accomodate the same size group. Swimming a must and fishing prefered. Needs to be within 2 hours of Lake Charles. Looking for something other than Toledo. Thanks

A few years back we had a large group and stayed at Wildwood. They had a single cabin big enough for all of us and everything was top notch.

Palmetto State Park. You can go online and see. Great accommodations

Sorry about that...

My mistake. I apparently forgot my reading cap at home this morning.

Chicot State Park

all the above mentioned state parks have really nice cabins, basically the same layout and good overall prices. But beware the state parks budgets are being cut due to lower oil prices etc. Some may have limited cabins available.
It comes down to what you want. Palmetto doesn't have swimming but rather a small water park and wilderness hiking. Cyp Pt has a beach, fishing and that whole experience. Chico has some of both etc. Go online and check them out.

Chicot has a small water park, play grounds, a pool, and the cabins are pretty nice and close to the water.

Cabins at state parks usually are booked way in advance...... it may be too late to book something for May of this years.

Don't wait any longer to check.

X2 very nice. They have a couple of big cabins right on the water with private lighted docks

Artisian Springs in Bon Wier TX is also pretty cool. Cajun Palms in Breaux Bridge has some nice cabins on the water too, if you like more of the partying atmosphere

Another +1 for chicot...so much to do there and the cabins are pretty nice

The state parks are probably your best bet. How about Big Lake? Lol.

Myers landing by lake Arthur is nice. Never stayed in the cabins but really nice people .

Chicot looks nice with the larger lodges. I know some of y'all have commented on the declining bass population there, how about other fish species to occupy the little ones? Catfish, bream?

my buddy caught a bunch of sacalait on yoyos this past weekend

From looking at the pictures it looks like it would be a bass/sacalait/bream/catfish mecca. Looks like a real pretty lake.

ScubaLatt 02-12-2015 09:34 AM

Chicot if you can get a cabin.

The lake is very pretty. There are a few boat lanes, otherwise the lake is full of trees with endless areas to fish. The water is usually [always ... not sure] nice.

They're slamming the white perch on yo-yos right now.
