Need a good Weed Eater
 

Im tried of buying weed eaters every year. What is a good brand to buy that will last. I don't have a big yard at all. It take me maybe 30 minutes to cut my grass. Any suggestions..... anyone has one to for sale?

and how are they going bad? tis it he same part breaking down every time?

not sure what you are buying but the mid level priced equipt is what I always buy because its quality enough to last without paying top dollar just for a fancy name or fully equipt version.

Shindaiwa is the bomb. Stihl is good too but I'd go shindaiwa. Things is a work horse and cranks on first or second pull since 2006. And 5 of those years was cutting several yards as a side job

Had the same issues a few years ago.....made the investment for a Stihl trimmer....glad I did....best trimmer and blower...two pulls every time...:D

Echo brand is great. I have 1 that is 11 years old and 1 that is 8 years old. Change the spark plug and air filter every year and never look back. Neither one has ever been in the shop.

They just don't crank up. I just gave up on them. Lol

Shindaiwa is hard to beat. I been having mine about 10 years and haven't had any issues at all.

If you're not putting fuel stabilizer in your gas you will keep having problems. Letting them sit all winter will cause problems. Fuel varnishes up and ruins the diaphrams in the carbs so they don't pump correctly.

That's the problem cheep + no gas treatment = broke weedeater

I like Stihl. I buy the premix gas in a can that has stabilizers and no ethanol.

Just go buy a carb kit for it. It's an easy fix.

my dad did the same thing. every year I would clean the carb and filter getting it running good and the next year same thing needed to be done and he only used non-ethynol gas with fuel stabilizer yet it still gums up over winter.

he finally just gave up and bought a cordless battery one and a spare battery, with both of them charged he easily trims the whole yard and never has to fight with the damn thing to get it to run, plus its quiet and no gas or oil to mess with.

been using it for 4 years now trouble free and he trims a 100x140 ft yard with it and gets about 3/4 way through before needing to swap batteries in it. I think he said he gets 20 minutes continual full speed running time on one battery

as others say, its mostly old gas leaving varnish in the carb, but fine dust fills the foam air filter and it gets clogged solid sometimes on those things so don't overlook the foam filter.

My dad bought a Shindaiwa when we moved into their new house when I was in second grade. He gave me that weedeater when I built my house and bought himself a brand new Sthil. 7 years later, I'm using that same Shindaiwa and he is on his second Sthil. I vote for Shindaiwa.

Use Tru Fuel. Premixed and no ethanol. Home Depot has it and all the small engine shops sell it. You won't be sorry.

I have owned echo, shindawa, and now a Stihl This is over 35 years. All of them has been good. I cut and trim several tracks of land we own. I also did lawn maintenance in the past. Never had. Never any problem with any of these. Just wore them out after many hours and years of service. Good luck.
