On a fiberglass boat, what do you use to get heavy stains lifted?

It is an orange colored stain on a gray colored deck.

This is a loaded question.

How fresh is your boat wax? Do you care to wax the entire boat ever, or just wash it with household products?

If the wax is fresh then use a harsh lifter and rewax the area, otherwise it will oxidize and hold stains even more.

If you have no wax then lift the stain with a harsh lifter then rewax the entire boat.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, so once you address the stains go ahead and keep it waxed so the stains never get a chance to really set. Then, never clean with harsh chemicals that strip wax (even dish soap strips it off) and the stains will have a hard time finding a home.

That I am aware of, no recent waxing has been done. I have tried Starbrite Boat Cleaner with PTEF( a pretty tough cleaner ) and diluted bleach.

What harsh lifters seem to work for you ?

I haven't used any, but barkeepers friend or toilet now cleaners have been mentioned as very effective.

I use toilet bowl cleaner and so far knock on wood all stains have come up. I also keep a good wax coat on the boat and clean it very well after each outing. Good luck

There is a rust remover made by Ready-Strip that works well. Fleet Wax has been the best for keeping the stains off. Its not cheap, but you get what you pay for.

mine just had to be completely buffed in three stages because how bad it was. looks like a completely different boat now. it was brown at the water line and real dull now it is white and shiny
