VBay is FUBAR
If anyone is considering a trip to the bay this weekend, I would seriously reconsider. Today I started the same spot I fished last Sunday (where I limited out in an hour) and it looked like a landslide. Made it out in the bay alright and then the wind picked up to 20 to 30 mph. The water wasn't even decent before the squall but it quickly turned into a viscus diareha type substance. Picked up and ran down fresh water bayou to fish some canals back in the marsh. We picked up a few fish (3 cats and 2 Reds) but the pickings were slim. Ran out the locks to see what the water looked like out side and found it just as dirty and fresh. Not to mention there was 2 extra feet of it from the runoff from the river. A pipeline crossing on the gulf side where the rocks are usually sticking 2 - 2 1/2 ft. out the water were completely submerged. I ran in through SW Pass and did not see anything worth fishing. There is just so much runoff right now, the entire estuary is in a state of shock. The tides are not running anywhere close to prediction. Its amazing we put a fish in the boat. It's going to take 4 or 5 days of no rain and some strong tides for it to even return to it's normal glorious mediocrity. If you go out good luck, but don't say I didn't warn ya.
