Heberts Bait?

Saw a post a while back that Heberts was selling bait. How have they been doing? They able to keep bait? I know in the past they couldn't keep the water cool enough to keep the bait happy but I think this new guy put in a better system. Sure would be nice to have another vendor out on the lake.

Seems to be doing good he has been here everyday this week

That's great. I'd love to see some kind of shop open back up over there. I know I know it's been tried and failed every time but man it is a great little place.

$20/qt. Runs out early. I hate that side of the lake. Always rough and everywhere I want to fish is on the other side.

We stop by today and bought from heberts. Really nice guy and glad to support another local business. The shrimp were in better shape and larger than Spicer's had been all weekend

I've been fishing big lake for 30 years and do quite well on a consistent basis, and still don't like that side of the lake. The gentlemen who take care of selling the shrimp and ice are nice guys. The old guy on the golf cart eying you like a thief every time you launch I've got nothing for. Just last week he watched me put money in the slot, he came over to open the box and I said good morning. He gave me the stink eye, opened the box and took out my $5 bill and unfolded it to make sure it was the right amount. Wouldn't even say good morning. What a sad life.

Dude! Really? Did you touch his dog? That big yellow lab? Don't mess with an old man's dog! An old man's dog is as cherished as a wife that does not talk and is a great cook! :rotfl:

I had a similar experience, putting money in the slot while he was on the other end of the parking lot talking to someone. He at first tried to say that I couldn't have paid because he had just checked the box. He opened the box to check also and didn't say anything once he saw I had paid.

Lol he does tend to be a lil grumpy at times but but for the most part he has always been straight up and cool after the sun comes up lol

Nope. I do pet Hondo when I see him though....

On my first encounter with the Old man....... I was walking up to the Money box and he was about 40 feet away sitting in his golf cart. He was talking to a Sherriff deputy that was pulled up next to him.

He called over to me and said to give him the money. I kind of felt like he was a "Robber" asking for money. I then spoke to the deputy and he supported the "Cart man", so I gave him my money.

Hell then he has to be good people with that being said. Never met him and I like him already.

thunderstruck 06-19-2015 07:38 AM

Frank is a good guy. He has improved the launch, keeps the parking straight and keeps the crowd moving on a busy day. Boat launch fees were about 30% of boats launched before he started and now are almost 100%. He picks up trash, watches the neighborhood, mows grass. That boat launch is private property so we all need to be respectful to keep using it.

Be nice to him and he will be nice to you.

juicegoose 06-19-2015 08:18 AM

Yup I would agree. He's always been nice to us and i'm from Texas. But we do have a camp on the lake.
