Grand Isle

I just joinned this forum and have been searching old post but have a few questions. I lived in Texas for years and fished many places on the Texas coast. So I know how to catch trout and red fish. I was thinking about going there this summer but I started to think it is much closer to LA so I am now thinking about Grand Isle. I am thinking about a week in mid July. Should I bring my boat and can I catch trout and red fish or is there a better area to look into?

Good area. You can fish grands isle or Elmer's island, surf fishing. You can stop along hwy 1 and fish roadside. If you bring boat you can fish a lot of other areas. You cant go wrong. If u bring boat look at between the banks. It's a fishing show in this area. He give easy coordinates of where to fish.

Are there any maps availible? I been looking at maps online looks like alot of areas to fish.

Also, do kingfish and spanish mackerals come close to shore in the sumer like they do in Texas?

If the Mississippi River gets low and the water cleans up you get Spanish for sure. I'm sure the kings are there, just nobody targets them around unless they need bait or are in a tourney.

Venice isn't exactly easy for a first timer. Grand isle is a good plan

I think that there is no way the mississippi is going to get low anytime soon. We are getting so much rain up here all the rivers are flooded right now. Normally it would start to dry up by July but it just keeps raining almost everyday. There is a lot of water headed that way right now.

That is pretty much what I figured that Grand Isle would be easier to figure out than Venice.

I have room if someone that knows the area wanted to go out with us that would be great.

Grand Isle is pretty easy although it gets some pressure during the summer months. What kind of boat you have?

I have a boston whaler and a 18' alumacraft. I could bring either but most likely the alumacraft. I don't mind going some distance in the boat.
