Well built boats if your looking for speed get the 18X48 with the extreme crimp.

The Extreme crimp makes a huge difference. Pay the extra and you won't regret it.

It turns instead of sliding. There is no comparison.

I may need to start another thread, but I am in the market for an aluminum boat also, just not a gator tail, and haven't heard of the crimp effect. I have however expericed the slide in most aluminum boats. Are there other aluminum hulls out there built to prevent/minimize this slide?
Thanks.

On a mud motor application it is hard to stop that slide effect all together. The Extreme crimp does do a great job of making the boat not slide as much. But it really all boils down to tiller time in learing how to react to your boat to make it turn like you want.

^^^ What he said^^^
Making a sharp turn is as much throttle as it is turning the motor
