House Leveling???
 

Have any of you ever had your house leveled? I have a house that is raised (not on a slab) with trees around.... have you guys ever had a house leveled? If so, what did it cost?

If your problem is not too bad, you might consider doing it yourself.

You can rent a few jacks and lift up the house and reposition or add to your supports.

If tree roots are causing your problem, you might need to dig down and cut some of the roots.

I had cable lock come out and lift my 900 sq ft house from 2 1/2ft high to 4 ft high.

they installed a chain wall (concrete sidewalk looking thing for the pilings to sit on) and I think it was $22k -$24k total

When I was younger we had to shim pillars ever few years due to trees in the yard. Someone told my dad turn the water hose on and let it run under the house for a day or two next time the doors started giving problems, instead of shimming. This solved the problem. A lot of foundation problems are the same. They aren't caused by the trees roots. It's actually caused by the ground drying out and settling.

Had a house leveled in '95. 2000 sq feet. It cost $5000 for the leveling. That does not include the other costs. Messed up plumbing- another cost. Cracked walls all over the house-another cost and walls coming down that need to be replaced. Had it leveled in 2006 again but will not give you the price. He was a rip off artist.
