Poll : Shimano Calcutta TE vs Chronarch

heres my dilemma i got the calcutta for christmas and i put line on it and it does really cast nice. I mean probably the best casting reel ive thrown. I put a 3/4 ounce weight on and threw a pretty good distance without adjusting the reel at all. But Im not sure i like the roundness of it also i could return it and almost get two chronarchs for the price so what should I do?

I dont own either reel but i have used the calcutta and its a really nice reel and it does cast extremely well. I don't mind the roundness all i used to fish with is ambassador 5600s. The chronarchs do look pretty sweet and probably cast just as good as the calcutta. I think I would have to go with the two chronarchs (never used one). They just look like a sweet reel and they should cast as good as the curados, which in my opinion should be good enough for anyone. If my g/f can cast one, i believe anyone can. Tough decision....

I brought a new Chronarch D1007 yesterday at Cabelas. Now I want to sell my 3 Curados. BTW, any reel that is round (regardless of the maker) you might as well use it as a BOAT ANCHOR!

Curado all day

Really I am not.........
Curados for the price.....you cannot beat them. However, if you want to move up in class then get the Chronarch. Even my 9 year old son can tell the difference between the two.:D

Once I try something and realize that it is better then what I have used in the past.....well I call this common sense. Again the Curados are way better than any hunk of junk Revo or Dawia coastal. :*****:

2 is better than 1 in so many ways !!!!!

LaAngler 12-29-2009 09:46 AM

chronarch is a good solid reel, core 50 mg7 would be a fine choice also

chronarch uses brass gears core uses aluminum = lighter but can shear the teeth easier

I use two chronarchs as my main trout reels

never used the chronarch, but have several friends that guide and the calcuttas have held up for more than 5 years of almost daily use.

I won't deny that!! For $50 they are a steal. I only like good quality rods, fancy reels might cast great but good rods help feel bites.
