5/31 at Grand Isle
What a day on the outside of the islands. NO wind at all, and the larger trout were feeding... sorry no pictures, but I stopped at 15 trout simply because I received a call from my wife saying that my daughter gave birth to our second grandson :fireworks:. Fishing buddies soon to come :smokin:
Ended the day with 15 trout between 15" and 20". Tagged 5 redfish, 4 trout under 15" and one Mangrove Snapper. Bait of choice was a pink Paul Brown for the larger trout, and my favorite set-up for the remainder of the trout (She dog with Creole shrimp under it). I arrived, and a man with his son was there, not catching much. I tried to get his attention and have him move closer to me as his son did not look to thrilled to be there... I was trying to help, but no luck. He left as I was still reeling them in, and then a charter boat stopped for about 10 minutes with again no luck and left. They were all using live bait, I was using artificial. I tried live bait and did nothing... I guess sometimes they just do not like the live stuff. |
I have been out fishing live shrimp so far this year, I hope it keeps up. Great report and congratulations on the grandson.

Fished GI 6/2 and 6/3. Caught 50-60 schooley trout under 12" and about 15 keepers. Windy, choppy ruff. Fished islands north of GI with glow touts and live shrimp. Too ruff to hit a reef that had been consistently producing the previous week.

Thanks gents... looking forward to going to see him in July.
I hope the weather holds out this morning so I can get a little fishing in. Going to grab the boat right now and get it ready. Good luck to all |
