Lower Sabine Limit

Proposal would decrease bass minimum length limit on Lower Sabine River

Size limit would go from 14 to 12 inches; daily limit would stay at eight fish

I know there was some talk about this topic so hopefully this can referenced in the future.

Starting September 1 the limit goes to 12 inch for all of Sabine. 8 keepers on main river. If you are not main river it is normal la state laws. If you are in tx on the Sabine it is 5 keepers at 12 inch min

Freakin' silly is what it all is.

As if you're a trespasser for launching in LA, catching a keeper there, then fishing a main river cut on the TX side, and getting checked. All of a sudden you're breaking the law?
The very fact that there are two separate size limits proves that no one in the offices of the Wildlife/ Fisheries Dept.'s in either state has a clue in what they're doing.
Am I off base here?
I'm all about following size limit/ creel limit rules; no problem there.
But, I like fishing the LA side AND the TX side just as well.
For the Sabine River, a 10" all-around limit would make more sense. Wherever you are: 10".
I prefer to throw the bigger bass back, myself.
I released a 4.25 lb'er a few weeks ago. Felt good.
As it stands now, I almost have to keep that fish if I want to have fish for dinner.
Kinda messed up.
The Sabine River is teeming with smaller fish that are more suitable for keeping to eat.

If you have that much trouble catching a limit of 12" fish something is wrong. A 10" fish ain't even worth sticking a knife to!!

I'm not that great of a fisherman, actually.

4th bullet point

Largemouth bass regulations modified on the Sabine River in Newton and Orange counties, and in Chambers, Galveston, Jefferson, and Orange counties by reducing the minimum length limit to 12 inches. The daily bag limit would remain at five fish in the four counties and at eight fish for the Sabine River

Louisiana is a lil slow at times I guess
