Rock and Roll 3/21/17 Meat Haul

Didn't launch till 2:00 PM at Joseph Harbor. Ran to beach, water so-so, caught and released a couple Bull Reds. Fished the Pass
hoping for Spec's, nada. Ran back "in" & found some Puppies and a few more Reds. All afternoon the bite was slow.
Fished w/ Mullet and shrimp.

Not crazy about Puppies, but a few fancy restaurants in Baton Rouge serve them, and people crave them, so I'll keep trying
to tweak the cooking. Lately I've been playing with marinating them in pineapple juice, mango juice or Teriyaki sauce.
Then I grill them super well done. Some advise initially soaking the freshly filleted Drums in ice water over night(can't hurt).

Crabs are still cooperating pretty well from what I saw.

I caught and fried up some Sacalait a few days ago and man, they are truly Spectacular tasting fried.

Sounds like you might be over cooking the drum. The small ones are just as good as redfish. Thanks for the the report!

Marinate your drum however you like but please do yourself a favor and don't overcook them. Much better product IMHO

What I've done, and they are edible, is to again, cook well done on grill, then top with shrimp etouffe or something similar
(+ a nice cold salad on the side). To me anyway, there is less of that smelly smell. We have all been there, and know what
I'm talking about. Marinate for a long time, and for instance, top with grilled pineapples, and Bamn.....edible, enjoyable.

Now, mostly I think that yucky..ucky over-powering fishy smell, may be mostly from BIG Redfish/Black drum, that were frozen
for like over a year with blood streaks, freezer burns....ooooohhhhhhhh....she-ate.
