Of course we all know the wind was kicking, but I still tried to find decent, protected beach water, .....nada, as expected.
Anyway, ran to several places and caught some Reds and Spec's. The Spec bite was on plastics and live shrimp.

Nice thanks for the report.

Very nice. Some solid trout. No dinks in that mix.

Hit JH today for a limit of large crabs in about 90 minutes in spite of Mach 5 winds. I'm guessing they were trying to eat before the front that's coming in tonight cuz they were voracious.

Were the trout on the coast or inland in the bayous, also were the specs under birds?

thanks

In this case, they were inland without bird action. Key is clearish, salty water and tidal movement. With salty, I mean able to taste it. I think Nacl concentration needs to be around 2-3 ppt, to taste the salt. You can buy a cheap, put it in your shirt pocket salt water meter tester, for around $30.00 on da net.

Started around 12:30 PM Thursday afternoon and hoped that the Spec Bite would happen around 5:30 PM based on tides and previous bite. They were catching some Bull's on da Beach. The beach water was too muddy for Spec's, even though I gave them about 1/2 hr. Gave up and headed North, back towards Hwy 82. Found some decent water, a deep hole that a few times/yr. fills up with Puppies and Red's. This time, just Puppies and 1 red. All in all, caught 8 Puppies over 24", had to release 3.

I then moved and set up for the Spec's, nada. Tried 2 other spots, same story, they simply did not bite at all !! Caught 3 more Red's while Spec fishing.... 1 pole deep water, 1 pole on the bank. Had caught some live shrimp, but also threw artificial with a 3rd rod at times to be sure I wasn't missing a spot, a trend, or depth zone.

I only retrieved about 1 lb. of fillets/ 25-27" Puppy. Fried up a 16" Red and it was good. Those Black Drum are a lot of trouble to clean for the amount of meat they give up (trimming blood streak, worms etc. :-) )
