Black spoon

Buddy of mine claims that he is outfishing his buds in the Houma area with a black spoon that he uses for reds. Hard to find over here in Lafayette. Anyone know where I can find such a magic bait?

And don't tell anyone.:)

Johnson makes a black chrome spoon that can be magic in certain waters.

Any idea who stocks them. I ordered one from Amazon, but would prefer to see it before I buy anymore.

Haven't seen them in a store in years.

I have found the black Johnson's Silver Minnow to be a decent trout bait when it's overcast.

why not just paint one side of a normal spoon black?

It's not painted. It's a black chrome.

get you a black sharpie and paint one up! Academy didn't have my rattle trap that i wanted the other day (black/gold), so i bought sexy shad with gold sides, painted the top black and it worked just fine

what jpeff said!! we usually paint the silver ones black with a big sharpie. works just as well

Black spoon

If he's out of Houma, he's probably using the Eppinger "Rex" spoon. Songy's Tackle in Houma used to sell them. The "copper" colored spoons work well too. They come with a feathered trailer.

I've ordered them online too.

Nemire Red Ripper Black

There's also a black spoon that I've seen in Lafayette from Nemire called the Red Ripper. They have a great action with a trailer and rattle chamber. I've used the gold one. I've seen them on the shelves at WalMart, Academy, and a couple other places.

If you can hit the gander mountain in Beaumont before they close. They had them in stock last week.

You will retain some of the flash even with a sharpie. Was turkey hunting this past week and my broadheads were shining in the sun. I colored the blades and it helped a lot but still shined a bit

I have used this spoon in gold in the past and caught reds. Probably one of my favorite spoons.
