West Cove
Made a trip to the south shore of West Cove this morning. A beautiful sunrise on a flat calm lake, bait working the shoreline, and decent water clarity. We had one blowup all morning. We tried further east and found muddy water. There were no other boats or waders there which should have told us something. We saw a couple of guide boats working mid-cove. We didn't see them catch a fish. Wind started coming up about 9:15 and by the time we got back to the launch, pulled out, and drove north it was white capping.
Ya gotta go to know! |
Honestly I was wondering what the deal was in W. Cove. I fished there last tuesday and got Blown hard movies and was considering going today. Looks like the lake will have to get a few more days of calm weather before it will get right.

west cove is great seasonally. But yes, with the winds we've been having it's hard to fish.

Honestly, I have been fishing West Cove all year. Its been hit or miss for this amateur, but I have been able to find fish here and there. I haven't had any particularly great days, but the wind has been the most common denominator in everything. I usually hit the south bank and the oyster reef by the refuge headquarters.

If you are fishing close to the bank, try fishing 150 to 250 yards away form the bank. |
