Big Lake Report 6/19/17

Me and my 6 year old son made a trip on Monday morning and did pretty good. We launched at Spicer's and headed to the southwest part of Big Lake. It was calm, almost cool, and overcast. The water looked great and the salinity was pretty high. The name of the game was birds, birds, birds. We jumped from spot to spot chasing them and caught tons of schoolies. I ended up throwing a top water to try and get the bigger trout to hit it. Worked perfectly. We boated about 60-70 trout but only ended up with 20 keepers. My son is pretty much a professional now (see my report from 6/18/17). Here he is with his first and second trout he caught all by himself. We were fishing with the Matrix Shad TKO shrimp under a Matrix Float cork and a I was throwing a silver and pink Super Spook. It was a really good trip. He passed out as soon as we got in the truck heading home. I can't wait to get him out there fishing again!
