How?s Prien Lake/ Lake Charles lately?

Thinking about trying out there this afternoon. Any general tips? I rarely fish saltwater.

Bids were working other morning in lake Charles. Had 10-12 boats out there Tuesday morning. May give it a try before front tomorrow but white perch biting on Calcasieu is so easy

I went 10/29/17. Caught 4 rat reds, 6 croaker, 4 black drum, 1 flounder and a hardhead on frozen shrimp fished on bottom near the ship channel.
I hooked what I?m pretty sure was a huge red (caught glimpse of a large tail and a spot). There was no way I could get it to come up. Thought my medium action rod was going to break but my line gave way first.
But, now I?m on a mission.

Good job. Try live bait for some specks or throw some plastic. D.O.A.s have worked great up there for me in years past under a popin cork. I'm still getting calls from buddies goin over bridge seeing birds working in Lake Charles. I'm gonna give it a shot soon! If they not there I'll run the bay boat up from SWB to parkside grab some shiners and go after some Crappie in the big boat. Sounds like a plan to me , lol. Let all know soon
