Calcasieu Lake ?Vanished?
I created a PowerPoint presentation about our lake. It took me about two weeks to collect data and design.
I can not load the pdf file here so I will put it in pictures form. Hope you can zoom in and read https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...f667ec8f.plist https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...40e10629.plist https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...e75838bf.plist https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...df7bf3c3.plist https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...068bfebd.plist https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...148c39f6.plist https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...f42203f8.plist Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Interesting presentation. Do you believe that the "rocking" of the ship channel project will be a good thing by reducing the amount of dredging or a bad thing because of the reduced flow of salinity into the lake? Is the issue how many and how wide the cuts will be?

Quote:
The lake isn't supposed to be as salty as it is now, in the first place. That happened because of the widening and deepening of the channel. |
thanks for that info W.

Good job. The main point is sound. Protecting the ecosystem and the food supply is key.
One point that might be worth considering is the strong rebound of redfish since the bans following the "blackened redfish" craze. Strong redfish populations are both very strong food competitors with specks as well as strong predators on trout until they get to 12" or so in length. The strong redfish population is likely also hurting the blue crab population. |
Excellent PP presentation. Startling to see what once was/is now.

Thank you for taking the time and effort on your presentation. I do hope WLF will respond quickly to the severe problems that face our trout fisheries.

Good info W.. I'd suggest U bring this to a monthly LA. WLF Commission meeting.. And Give a Presentation to the commission member' s.
