Serrano

I just received access to Okuma's full line of reels and I am highly sold on the Serrano LP baitcaster. Compared to the other green reel, this thing was specifically made for SW fishing, and features 10+1 ball bearings, weighs 7.2oz, and has a 3 year warranty.

PM me if interested as I am about to order these and the Okuma Trio Spinning reel.

You can buy the new Curado for ~ $ 150 and the gear ratio is higher [better].

The serrano weighs less which means the world to me, is cheaper, and is actually made for saltwater. talk about a sweet lil reel....Shawn will buy one, and i'll trade him a one of a kind burnt oragne UT onsie for his lil boy to wear.

I like this better than the curado with the weight and the fact that it's made for saltwater and the 11 bearings compared to 7 doesn't hurt either

More is not always better. Shimano's Chronarch or Core have fewer bearings than that Okuma and are much better reels. Know why....? Because they're Shimano! A Chronarch 100D will make that reel feel like it's loaded with sand.

Yes I'm sure a $300 reel will outperform a $169 reel,, but why am I even wasting my time typing these words.

jlincecum 02-03-2010 10:28 PM

cuz somebody had to say it. might as well be you:*****:

More expensive than a Curado but it has the same amount of bearings. My point is....the quality of a reel is not determined by the number of bearings. If there's anybody who wants to put that Okuma, with it's 11 bearings, up against one of my Chronarchs or Cores (with fewer bearings)......I'm game. If my choices came down to an Okuma or a Shimano.....it's a no-brainer. You will not find a baitcaster anywhere near the price of a Curado that will perform flawlessly trip after trip. Ask "W".

hmm a serrano and a back up serrano ( or curados whatever your flavor is) i guess i just don't fish enough to drop the coins on a chronach, or maybe its that duck season gets in the way
