Yup, I've seen them with several over 40lbs & a bunch 10-20's, no telling what they've caught that I haven't seen. They're retired & stay for weeks at a time

Dem dar Mississippi boys call dem yellar cats

CatDaddy 02-12-2010 01:32 AM

Those little short fat catfish is a yeller cat... I call em "mud cats" or "Gougons"

wtretrievers 02-12-2010 01:52 AM

Flatheads, Opps, spotted cat, yellow cat, just depends what part of the country you're in.
Kinda like Sac-a-lait

QUACKHEAD 02-12-2010 06:32 AM

Mudcat and opps are two different types. Opps are live eaters. Yellows, or muds are scavengers and will eat anything. AKA: turd suckers. Can u eat them, yes if your hungry enough or if your guest can't tell the difference. But with the opps, blues and channels out there....why? to me it's like choosing Opps = ribeye, Blue = T-bone,
channel =Serloin, and yellow = under side of tail. The yellows can have a texture and flavor not appealing to the taste buds from certain waters. A Big opp has good meat even on the belly and just behind the eye's. Cool pic's catdaddy. I loves them slick skin fish myself. It's just about time for up here to pull out the jugs and catch a couple hundred pounds. I love catching some, cleaning them on the bank and frying them right there. yummmm yum.

"We" La people call a mudcat a mudcat or a yellow cat, what we (La) call a flathead or Opps Miss folks call a yellow cat, kinda like some say sac-a-lait, crappie or white perch

LOL :*****:

CatDaddy 02-12-2010 11:33 AM

lol.....

I tried giving them a charge, but i found out that they dont swim around as much, making them appear "not as liveley", thus catching fewer bream.

I use this stuff that I got in my bass boat that keeps the fish alive in the live well.... Its like cocain to them.... they go nuts when you sick a hook in their back.
