Revo
Are the Revo's some good reels? I'm thinking about getting the Revo SX to put on my new BillyStix and was wondering what everybody thinks about them. The reason I'm thinking about this reel is because it's in my price range (around $150) and I've had 3 Abu Garcia's that have lasted a long time. Any input is appreciated. The one below is what I'm thinking about getting. Thanks

I would probably use it more for trout since I have 3 rods that I can use for reds. |
I have one that I bass fish with. Very smooth reel always been scared to take it in the salt just cause it is so smooth. But im sure if you take care of it it will last you a long time

I've never used on but the old 5500's would last for ever. When they start to make noise just dip it in the salt water.:rotfl:

I can verify Scatv's reel... it starts squealing... and I tell him that it is a pos... he dunks it in the water... and its stops making that squeal.

lol My old 6500 does the same thing. That things been through hell though, it sat under that ole nasty flood water for a couple days from Rita and Ike at my house. That thing makes some racket when I throw it lol

I have a revo and curado, and i can say the curado does feel a good bit smoother but not a HUGE difference. The curado seems easier to cast lighter baits tho. But I've been having my revo for 2 years now, and its still as smooth as the day i bought it. I've never brought it into saltwater tho or my curado. Just afraid they'll lose that ultra smoothness they have

Have revo inshore and it seems to be holding up well , very smooth and cast welll...

I tried a top of the line Revo and it was nice but can not even come close to a Curado when it comes to casting distance.

if your ambassador is squelling the bearing are probably froze

Squelling ambassador
I'll take the squelling out . A good cleaning and maybe a bearing change will do it wonders.
The revo is a fine reel in fresh water. I have seen damage to the bearings from the salt water. Again it's how you take care of the reel. My 2 cents Reelman:work: |
