Toyota gettin' hammered

The hearings started today in Washington.

Mediumheavyaction6'6 02-23-2010 06:50 PM

seems somewhat of a conflict of interest for the government to own one of toyota's rivals and they are the ones who are investigating them

If Toyota wouldn't of tried to hide that they had a problem and just came out with a recall. I don't think anyone would of had a problem with that. But the fact that they went out of their way to cover it up is what has gotten them in trouble.

True. The bottom line is, however, are you, as a long-time Toyota owner, gonna continue to buy their vehicles?

No I only buy GM or Ford. The quality of the foregin auto makers has really dropped over the last few years. Look at J.D. Power results Buick is starting to take top spots on all three cars they produce. I think thats the key to the auto industry right now. Build only a few models but build them well.

Mr. Toyota, himself, will be center stage tomorrow. As far as cars, I've bought nothing but Toyota for years...and will continue to do so.

Sometimes I wish my Fords had that problem.

It's called Obamanomics and it's coming to a neighborhood near you. Get used to it.

SULPHITE 02-23-2010 10:24 PM

Hell no its called competition...thank god toyota made quality vehicles...keeps the lazy american manfactures on their toes!! They have had to improve their vehicles in order to compete with Toyota. You can't say Ford, Chevy, GMC have never had major recalls.

I have a Chevy and it has been a good truck. I got it in DEC of 2006 and I currently have just over 111K miles. I am really thinking about a Toyota when I get another truck.....if not it will be another Chevy.

She claims she put the tranny in "reverse" and "park" while exceeding speeds of 100 mph.

This is just another ploy by OUR government to try and boost the economy, which they are going to fail at. Toyota has been too big of a player for many many years for this kind of crap to happen. C'mon 2012.

I agree, Devil. Nothing will come out of these hearings. Toyota will not admit to anything and the other side cannot prove anything. Toyota is the standard for car builders and, I expect, will remain so.

FF_T_Warren 02-23-2010 10:52 PM

definitely

of course they will. US automakers cant hold a match to toyota and honda. if you get 200k miles out of a US vehicle you doing good. if you only get 200k miles out of a honda/toyota either you got a lemon or you totaled it out. US makes nicer riding and more comfortable vehicles but the lifetime of them aren't nearly as good.

you must not have ridden in an 07 or newer tundra with the 5.7, as far as i'm concerned it is untouchable by any other half ton off the lot when it comes to handling, ride and power.
