well with the amp and gel battery in it, it really doesnt hold ice well lol. i thought about building it out of a 140qt. chest so i could put ice on one side but then thats pretty big to be toting around. this one weights about 60 pounds as it is. also i hate cuting up a new chest thats why i bought the cheapest one.

yeah you could make it with a lawnmower battery and a smaller chest. the 6x6 speakers measure 3 or 4 inches deep so you need a chest to hold the batt and room for the speakers. then the radio. i had to mount it on top cause it would have hit the battery mounted in the front. the radio sits about 6 inches deep. but you could make one. ive seen one made out of that little blue cube ice chest he had to small speakers on the side and the radio. not sure what batt he used but it worked and sounded good. just remember measure twice cut once.
